<image:caption>The Pelvic Physio Queenstown understands that although incontinence is common, it is not normal nor should it be accepted as normal. In New Zealand 25% of men and women experience urinary incontinence and there is strong evidence to suggest this is very under reported. Incontinence has a large impact on a person’s quality of life, but luckily there are a lot of treatment options to help manage and treat this unfortunately common but not normal condition. But how does a The Pelvic Physio Queenstown help with bladder and bowel issues? We know 80% of people can improve with pelvic floor muscle exercises and learning appropriate bladder and bowel habits and that’s only a small part of our treatment options.</image:caption>

<image:title>Pre & Post Prostate Surgery - Pre & Post Prostate Surgery Queenstown</image:title>
<image:caption>Men who undergo surgery for the management and treatment of prostate cancer are expected to experience some level of urinary incontinence during their recovery. Continence pads, catheters and sore testicles are all to be expected in the post operative period. Leakage may be minor and last a few weeks or it may continue for up to 12 months. This can be overwhelming, but thankfully we know that bladder control does improve over time after surgery, especially with the help from physiotherapy. The pelvic floor muscles work to control the bladder and maintain continence. Just like any other muscle, if we understand how to exercise them properly we can improve their strength and ability to stop urinary leakage. We suggest you learn to exercise your pelvic floor muscles prior to your operation it often leads to better performance post operatively.</image:caption>
